Looking at a live 10–14 day forecast, especially when compared against an alternative destination, gives you a ground-truth picture that no guidebook can.

Norway, Iceland, Scotland, the Faroe Islands, the Canadian Maritimes, and New Zealand's South Island are all reporting significant increases in summer visitors. These destinations haven't become more fashionable — they've become more survivable. In a stable climate, historical averages were a reasonable proxy for what you'd actually experience. In an unstable one, they're a liability. The most informed travelers today are those who check live forecast data — not just for their destination, but for alternatives — and make decisions based on what the next two weeks actually look like, not what a guidebook says July should feel like.
